So here is my haul, finally! This is about to be a long post so grab a snack and get comfy.
I recently ordered some new skincare products because of issues I have been having with my skin. The reason I chose to go with Korean brand products is because I have found that my skin reacts better to them. I think it is a well known fact that products here in the U.S. tend to be quite harsh on the face unless you are buying some hundred dollar item from a fancy shmancy luxury brand. Well guess what? We can’t all afford luxury so Korean skincare it is then! (which feels like luxury without the luxury cost).
I ordered from three online stores: Masksheets.com, Soko Glam, and Peach & Lily. I have ordered from masksheets before but never from the other sites. But I had great experiences with all three stores 🙂
My first box was from Peach & Lily and only took 4 days to get to me, counting from the day I ordered. I ordered two face oils and a face moisturizer.
Organic rose hip seed oil was something that I have been pondering getting for quite a few months now. I have seen such rave reviews about rose hip seed oil in general and have seen so many pictures of people’s acne scarring transformations that I wanted to try it for myself. So I saw this on Peach and Lily and added it to my cart. It is a clear-ish orange color that has a slightly earthy scent. It doesn’t really smell great. It just…smells like earth. That’s the only way I know how to describe it lol. It’s a fairly light oil but absorbs into the skin nicely. In the pic above on the left, the inside of the box is red and rubbed off on the bottle, that’s why the label looks like that. It does not get on the hands though.
The next oil I purchased was the neroli brightening oil.
I have had my eye out for neroli oil ever since I tried a neroli sheet mask and my skin fell in love. Sadly, neroli oil is SUPER expensive which is why it’s so hard to find or sold diluted in other oils. Now, this oil is also not pure neroli (which I knew before I purchased but still thought it was rather disappointing). It is mostly a carrier oil and also contains other oils in it as well such as babassu, sunflower, shea, and manderin orange. Like the rose oil, it is quite light, absorbs into the skin nicely, and leaves a slight sheen. The one thing I don’t like about this oil is the SMELL! It smells so strongly of flowers to me and I can’t stand it. I hate the smell of flowers and this oil smells like I went rolling through a flower garden. And. it. lingers. Not for hours on end or anything like that, but enough to make me want to rinse my face. This oil contains all natural ingredients but idk how long I will be using this oil, sadly. The scent is just too much for me.
Next from Peach & Lily, I bought the Citrus-Honey Aqua Glow moisture gel.
Since I have oily skin, I wanted to try a gel moisturizer and see how I would like that. This particular product is an award winner on their site and upon opening it and trying it for the first time, I can see why! It has a lovely citrus scent that doesn’t linger on the face. It goes on super smooth and once it is fully absorbed, there is no tacky finish. It is a gel but it is definitely moisturizing. For my skin type, it is just enough. Also, a little goes a loooonngg way! I literally take the amount of a finger flick and it’s enough for my entire face and the top of my neck. And at only $11.99 a tube, I need to stock up and buy like five lol.
My second box was from masksheets.com so it’ only right to order some sheet masks lol. The masks I got were:
- Pureness 100 Green Tea by Tony Moly (the first sheet mask I ever used two years ago. My intro to Kskincare. I still love this mask)
- Pureness 100 Red Ginseng by Tony Moly
- E.G.T. Timetox by Mediheal
- Teatree Healing Solution by Mediheal
I also purchased the ever popular pimple patches from Cosrx. I’ve been dying for these ever since my skin went all wonky on me months ago.
Also from Cosrx, I bought the Salicylic Acid Daily Cleanser.
It’s a nice foaming face wash but has an herbal scent that can be a bit off-putting. I was expecting the cleanser to smell light and fresh but it smells earthy and slightly medicated. But my skin feels amazingly clean after I use it. I have used this cleanser three times already.
The next cleanser I bought was the Teatree cleansing foam from the brand Papa Recipe.
I don’t know much about this brand as I have only heard minor things about them but I purchased this for those “special” times of the month when my breakouts happen or if my skin just chooses to hate me again. It’s a thick white foam cleanser that is actually iridescent. I couldn’t get a good picture that actually picks up the pearly look of it but it’s actually quite pretty. It smells like how tea tree would smell and when I put it on my wrist and let it sit, it was slightly cooling. I can’t wait to use this!
Lastly, I bought some cotton pads.
Korean brand cotton pads seem to be all the rage and I wanted to see for myself. I was in awe! These pads are sooo soft. The cotton pads that I have always gotten here in the States are soft to the touch but once you use it on the face, it is quite abrasive and sometimes even disintegrates in your hand. Not these! These are so plush. The cotton soaks up the toner but when rubbed across the face, it actually applies to the face. I can see and feel the moisture being applied to my face. Unlike the cotton pads, I had before that just soaked up the product and felt like I was just rubbing a damp pad over my face. These pads right here, though? Game changer.
Finally! We are on to the last package. If you made it this far, thankyouIloveyou.
So, I made a
hefty purchase from Soko Glam and I couldn’t be happier about it. I don’t have a full Kbeauty skincare routine just yet, but I am interested in starting one (just not the full 10-step one).
I purchased the Mild Cleansing Oil from Etude House and I love it! It’s perfect for my oily skin. It does not feel the least bit greasy and has a nice clean scent. It smells like a mix of green tea and oranges. Fresh, yet slightly citrusy.
I also purchased the Acwell 5.5 pH balancing toner. I saw Charlotte Cho (owner of Soko Glam) rave about this toner along with another one from Neogen. I couldn’t afford the one from Neogen, as well as it not really being made for my skin type. But this one stuck out to me. It has a scent that I can’t really describe, but it disappears almost as soon as it’s on the face.
I also received a deluxe sample with my order; the Cosrx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser. First of all, when they said “deluxe sample”, I was thinking anything from 1 to 3 ounces of product. This itty bitty thing was less than an ounce and I couldn’t help but laugh at it. But I guess in comparison to the little flat samples that come in packets, then yea this is deluxe…I guess lol.
But I am glad I got a sample of this and not the full size because this product stinks. It smells like a mix of menthol and medications and I hate it. Does it clean the skin? Yes. But I just cannot get past the pungent smell.
And last but certainly not least, the Triple C Lightening Liquid! I have been dying to get my hands on this. But each and every time I would visit the website, this baby was all sold out. But I was able to get my hands on it this time around, and the limited edition packaging at that!
The serum is a clear golden color with absolutely no scent whatsoever. I have read up on vitamin C serums oxidizing so I keep mine in the refrigerator and only take it out when I wash my face at night. People have also said that this serum stings the face but I honestly felt nothing of the sort. Not even a slight tingle. So either those people have sensitive skin or my skin is so beat up it’s lost feeling lol. But I doubt that.
Well that’s the end of my haul! Thank you so much if you have read this post in it’s entirety. I have only been using my new products for four days and my immediate favorites are:
- Citrus-Honey Aqua Glow
- Etude House Mild Cleansing Oil
- and the Cosrx Salicyclic Acid Daily Cleanser is trying to work it’s way up on the list as well
I will definitely be reviewing these products and posting updates about my skin journey. Thanks for reading!
